Mental health is simply how you think, feel, and cope with life.
It has nothing to do with being weak, unstable, or “crazy.” That stigma keeps people silent, and silence is the real danger.
Clearing the Air: What Mental Health Really Is
Mental health includes:
- Your emotional wellbeing
- Your ability to handle stress
- Your relationships
- Your resilience
- Your sense of purpose
Just like physical health:
- It changes over time
- It can improve or worsen
- It can be strengthened
- It sometimes needs support
What Mental Health Is Not
- A character flaw
- A sign of personal failure
- Something that means you’re “broken”
- Something to be ashamed of
What Mental Health Challenges Actually Mean
If someone struggles, it means:
- They’ve been carrying too much for too long
- They’re exhausted or overwhelmed
- They’ve faced a trauma or tough season
- They have chemical or genetic predispositions (just like physical conditions)
It means they are human. Nothing more. Nothing less.
